Collagen is a tissue responsible for maintaining the elasticity of the skin and provides essential support. So, when this tissue is teared then we see small marks (streaks) of pink or brown colour in the skin which are nothing but called as stretch marks.

The common causes of stretch marks include: skin elasticity generics, rapid weight gain, pregnancy and hormonal changes.

Sensitive skin reacts externally and internally to changes in life. Can be both oily and dry, it can be easily disturbed by skin-care products and cosmetics. Sensitive skin most often stings and burns from reactions you can feel, but not see – a condition dermatologists call subjective irritation. The skin in this condition looks absolutely normal to the other person. It tends to go blotchy and have broken veins at the same time, it might show a flushed or reddened look or might even itch.

You might need to consult a Dermatologist in serious cases, in other instances proper care and attention can help you to survive with sensitive skin type. The following is a simple step-by-step process anyone with sensitive skin should follow:

Sensitive Skin Care Tips

1) Two or three times a week use a deep cleansing mask specifically formulated for oily skin.

2) Wash your face no more than twice a day using a natural pH balanced cleanser.

3) Use a toner that is appropriate for oily skin.

4) Use a moisturiser designed specifically for dry and sensitive skin.

5) Use your natural skin care regime every single day.

6) Ensure your diet is very high in nuts, grains and vegetables and very low in saturated fatty foods.

Combination skin has dry and oily areas. The oily areas classically form a T-shape over the face to include the forehead, nose and chin, while the skin around the eyes tends to be dry.

Combination Skin Care Tips

It is impractical to use different types if products for different areas to the face, so just use more or less of the same product – moisturise the dry areas a little more richly than the oily ones and cleanse the oily ones more deeply. Use a light under-eye cream every other night.

A homemade mask of fresh parsley juice (just crush the leaves with a pestle and mortar) and honey is guaranteed to even out combination skin.

Use yoghurt on your face to neutralise combination skin. A maximum of twenty minutes a week is more than enough.

Oily skin is a result of over-active sebaceous glands. It shines in patches, is prone to spots and does not hold on to makeup for long. It comes with enlarged pores and an oily scalp, but the good news is that it will develop fewer wrinkles and maintains its elasticity and youthfulness longer.

Caring Routing for Oily Skin

The most important routine for oily skin is cleansing. You will notice that water-based cleansers work best and a good herbal soap and water are the simplest and most effective.

Homemade Facial Masks for Oily Skin

In India, women make a paste of multani mitti or fuller’s earth and water and apply this as a face and neck mask twice a week to cleanse and smooth oily skin. A mask of oatmeal and almond powder mixed with water is an excellent substitute. Once a week apply a well-beaten mixture of egg white and a few drops of lemon juice to your face and neck to tighten the skin and close the pores. Be sure to use all your homemade masks as soon as you have made them up as they will not keep.

Facials for oily skin

Facials help in deep cleansing, re-hydrating and rejuvenating the skin. There are three important steps of a facial:

1. Deep and thorough cleansing that exfoliates the top layer of dead skin and gives a healthier look to the skin.
2. Rejuvenates the skin by enhancing the process of cell renewal.
3. Providing in depth moisturizing to your skin.

Dry skin has a matt texture, tends to flake and looks white or grey in patches. Often dry skin is aggravated because the sebaceous glands are lazy or the skin has been over-exposed to the harsh elements like wind, sun or sea. Central heating also worsens dry skin. Unfortunately, in this type of skin, wrinkles and lines develop early and dryness tends to intensify with age.

Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin

Even dry skin needs a good cleanser. Use oil (baby oil is the gentlest) to wipe off makeup and grime. Avoid all astringents, but do moisturise often and as thoroughly as possible. Leave the moisturizer on the skin as a protective film.

Homemade Face Pack for Dry Skin

Dry skin appreciates a face weekly face mask that is nourishing and rejuvenating. Gently scrub off dead skin with a teaspoonful of oatmeal or, better still, chickpea flour which is used all over India and is known for its softening properties. Then mix together an egg yolk with a teaspoon of honey and spread over the face and neck. Leave for 20 minutes, then rinse off.

Moisturizers are cosmetic products which to some extent provide a practical answer to problems of water loss from the skin. Moisturizers are designed to reduce water loss from the epidermis. Moisturizers protect your skin’s top layer by holding in water and smoothing surface dryness. Regular use of a suitable moisturiser benefits your skin. The moisturiser not only replaces the water lost from the skin but also prevents its loss to the surroundings.

How to choose your Moisturizer?

Choosing the moisturizer to suit your skin type is very very important The proportion of oil varies according to the type of skin for which the product is formulated. The label on the product generally states this – so do read the instructions carefully! The best choice of a moisturizer is that which has a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15. Petrolatum , an ingredient used in many lotions and creams is an excellent moisturizer, because it helps seal in the skin’s natural moisture.

Moisturizers for Dry Skin

Moisturizers formulated specially for dry skin prevent water loss. If you have dry skin, a creamy moisturizer in a lotion or cream is very effective. If they do not have sensitive skin, they can wear whatever products feels good.

Moisturizers for Cobmination Skin

Most people have oily skin on the forehead, nose, and chin (called th T-zone), and dryer skin on the cheeks and neck. When the humidity is low, it may be necessary to moisturize the face. These moisturizers are drier and less greasy on your skin than those meant for dry skin.

Cleansing is the first essential step in your daily skin care routine. The objective of cleansing the skin is to remove all makeup, dead cells, oil and dirt, and to do so without irritating the skin. Choose a cleanser that is gentle yet effective for your skin type.

There are several alternatives to soap and water cleansing. Cleansers can be in the form of creams, milks, lotions , gels and liquids. All are, a mixture of oil, wax and water which have been formulated to suit different skin types.

How to Cleanse Your Face

The best way to cleanse your face is to use warm water and a mild cleanser twice a day, probably in the morning and before you go to bed.

Wet your face with warm water.

Take the advised amount of cleanser and gently massage over your entire face.

Rinse thoroughly with warm water by splashing your face.

Cucumber cleansing cream

Bees wax – Three teaspoons

Coconut oil – Four teaspoons

Olive oil – Five teaspoons

Cucumber juice – Four tablespoons

Glycerine – One teaspoon

Borax – A pinch

Green colour- One drop

Melt the oils and wax in a pan over boiling water. Simultaneously heat the cucumber juice, glycerine, green colour and borax in a separate bowl. When the oil is melted and warm add water drop by drop and stir continuously. Now remove it from the heat and beat until it gets thick and cool. The cream should be made in a small quantity, as cucumber juice gets bad and it should be kept in the refrigerator.
